Fourth of July

Definitely a day that I consider seized!

Woke up early in the morning in order to get the kids ready for a parade at Johnson at ten. Johnson is a little town about 5 miles outside of Pullman, and consists of about one street. We got there before it started, and had to park on the side of the highway that leads into the town. It was quite hot that day, and we went through water fast.

The parade started a little after ten, as two crop-dusting planes came swooping in. The rest of it seemed was with local groups, politicians, and everything else you'd expect. Seems like everyone was throwing out candy. Kyrie was poised with a little bag from our baby pack, and was ready to catch it. By the time the parade had ended, we had quite a stash. We got wet too. There were several paraders who came by with squirt guns, and the fire department had their hose on a sprinkler setting. The ending one was a car that somehow split into two, which has been there before. Very odd indeed was an attraction that was a tribute to late TV producer Aaron Spelling. Not sure who was in charge of that, but he or she must have been a big "Love Boat" and "90210" fan.

After that, it was straight to Albion. We sort of missed the parade, but it ened up at the park anyway. We were parked there in the shade, so there was nothing to complain about there. There were pony rides availiable, and Kyrie rode one. She really loved it, and couldn't stop talking about it. Isaiah was a little hesitant, but he eventually did it, holding his mother's hand most of the way. I was able to feed the horses with some carrots from our picnic lunch. I liked the way horse lips do that.

We came home to Isaiah could have a nap. Decided to watch Indepdence Day. I realized, while watching, that this film was released ten years ago. I'm surprised that 20th Century Fox didn't release a 10th anniversary edition. Come on, get with the program, Fox! I might make this a tradition on the fourth. Celebrate by watching the planet Earth kick alien carcass. Today we celebrate our Independance Day!

I made a pizza for dinner, and then we walked to Sunnyside. The kids had a fun time playing on the slides and swings, and loved to see the fire trucks that they have out every year. It took a while, but eventually that band stopped playing its covers of classics and the fireworks began. There was only one problem. There was a tree in the way! Well, we moved, and got a pretty good view.

Once we got home, our neighbors were lighting the fireworks off across the street. Our poor dog was hiding at all the noise. Poor Padme. She was a little more than shaky that night.

Quite a day of parades, pony rides, movies, pizza, and fireworks. I think that all days should be like this.
